Individual Advocacy for people who identify as LGBTQIA+
This service is for people living in Midlothian or East Lothian, who identify as LGBTQIA+. In East Lothian or Midlothian we can support people aged 18-25. In Edinburgh we can support people aged 18-65. In the LGBTQIA+ community you may have experiences where you didn’t feel you were listened to, understood or treated fairly because of your identity. It can be hard to take in lots of complicated information in meetings. You may feel overwhelmed or not listened to. We can help you to have your voice heard in many issues. For example:
Gender identity clinic appointments
Speaking to your doctor
Meetings about education
Raising issues with services when you’ve had a bad experience
Getting advice e.g. Citizen’s Advice or solicitor
We can’t give you advice or legal representation on your situation ourselves or act as counsellors or befrienders. We are there to help you explain your point of view and what you want to happen so we won't take anyone else’s side except yours.
