Meeting new people. Seeing new places. Doing new things. That's what our short breaks services are all about.

Action for Children offers a residential short break service to local children and young people in Edinburgh. Gilmerton Road is a home from home setting and the service supports children with learning disabilities and their families. The overnight stays allow our guests to develop new skills, socialise, and gain independence while they are in our care.

The dedicated care team has introduced new foods to the restricted diets of autistic children; helped families who struggle to get more than three hours sleep a night to plan bedtime routines, and supported learning disabled children to have fun in their own communities.
