Newton Stewart Sub Aqua Club
As our membership is so widespread we are unable to have weekly club meetings, as most clubs do, and so social media plays a large part in keeping members connected and informed.
We also meet at the Leisure Centre in Newton Stewart from February to April.
The beginner diver grade with BSAC is called the Ocean Diver Course. Our Club generally starts this training in the early part of each season (Contact Us for details). This is normally held on Wednesday evenings at the Merrick Leisure Centre in Newton Stewart. A free try-dive night is initially held to allow interested people to come along and find out about what the club does and what is involved in training with us (please get in touch with us if you would like to attend as there may be limited places). We run through some of the basic theory of diving and give short introductory practical sessions in the swimming pool.
Following the try dive night, we expect those wanting to continue with the Ocean Diver Course to join our club and buy course materials. You can find out about the costs involved in our Join the Club section.
The club offers training up to Advanced Diver (AD) from nationally qualified BSAC Instructors. In addition, in house Skill Development Courses (SDC) can be run subject to demand.
The club organises UK and foreign dive trips for members.
The club offers members the opportunity to dive stunning local sites and wrecks only known to ourselves as well as sites never before dived.
The club has dry suits and kit which members can borrow until they get their own kit.
