Strathcarron Compassionate Neighbours

Strathcarron Compassionate Neighbours is a community development project which works with communities to develop the skills and confidence to host conversations around dying, death, caring and grief and to help make connections within and across communities. Our work is based on firm evidence that community engagement is good for mind and body, and more effective than many medical interventions. Current projects include:

• Community Link Worker services connecting individuals with life limiting health conditions referred by GP surgeries and other health services to community activity

• a Compassionate Neighbour project supporting volunteers to work alongside individuals at end of life and with limiting health conditions to live as fully as possible

• weekly Snowdrop Cafés in Haggs, Tillicoultry, Falkirk, Bainsford and Langlees, Denny and Fallin to enable those experiencing grief to come together in warm and positive environments

• Community Builders in Fallin, Callander and Cumbernauld, working with individuals to create self-sustaining activities that benefit everyone.

We are continuously on the lookout for people to work with us. This can include volunteers seeking to use their skills or community organisations with who we share an agenda. If interested in our work please get in touch with David Henderson david.henderson10@nhs.scot
