Self-Directed Support (Angus)
Self-directed Support (SDS) is the name for how people get care and support in Scotland.
SDS is about giving you control, if you need social care or help to live in the community.
You choose how your support is provided. You also get as much control of your individual budget as you want.
SDS is for people of all ages, whatever support they need. SDS also covers support for unpaid carers.
The name Self-directed Support comes from the law that says how people should get care and support in Scotland.

Self-Directed Support
Self-directed support has four options:
1. Direct Payment – The person receives a direct payment into their bank account. The person arranges their own support using a budget provided by the authority.
2. Directing Available Resources– The supported person decides on the support they want, and support is arranged on their behalf.
3. Traditional Model – After discussion with the supported person, the local authority decides and arranges support.
4. Mix 'n match – The supported person uses a mixture of ways to arrange their care and support.
If you have care or support needs and are already involved with health and social services, you can ask your worker about self-directed support.
Alternatively email firstcontact@angus.gov.uk.
