Community Mental Health (Angus)

Our community mental health service provides assessment, support and counselling primarily for people under the age of 65 with mental health problems, and their carers.

Please visit your GP if you would like to discuss a referral to the mental health service.

You can only discuss a referral for a friend or family member if that person is in agreement with the referral taking place.

An assessment will be undertaken to determine how quickly you need to be seen.

If there are issues regarding safety or medical urgency, these can be responded to on the day of referral. Less serious needs will take a little longer.

This is a confidential service with information only provided to other agencies with the agreement of the service user. However, if there are any concerns raised regarding adults or children at risk appropriate action will be taken to safeguard their needs.

There is a huge range of mental health and wellbeing support available which can be accessed quickly and easily, based in your local GP practice, and this includes:

Mental Health and Wellbeing Peer Support
Social Prescribing
The Listening Service
These supports can be booked through your local GP Practice reception desk.

There is also a wide range of support in your local community.

For information for those aged over 65, and anyone with dementia, visit our community mental health services for older people and people with dementia page.
