West Dunbarton Addiction Services

  • We continue to provide treatment and support to patients who are currently open to the services.
  • Face to face contact will only be carried out where considered essential and for all others, telephone support or Attend Anywhere appointments will be provided. This can be arranged with the Care Manager.
  • Addiction staff will deliver prescriptions to pharmacies where necessary.
  • Patients who are self isolating or shielding are asked to nominate a responsible person to collect medication from the pharmacy. Where none can be identified, addictions staff will collect and deliver. To help to reduce the burden on pharmacies, supervision of medication at some pharmacies has been reduced. Where appropriate the length of prescriptions has been extended. This also applies to patients receiving alcohol protective medications.
  • Patients are advised to self refer over the phone and not attend the services in person, unless they are asked to do so.
  • New patient referrals will receive treatment based on assessment. Individuals who are not receiving treatment at this time will be offered support until such times as treatment can be provided.
  • Community based detoxification from alcohol may be initiated if assessed as safe to do so; otherwise patients will be referred for inpatient detox.
  • Needle exchange services remain operational at both sites.
  • Hepatitis C treatment will be continued for patients currently undergoing treatment. New patient referrals will be offered assessment at a later date.
