East Dunbartonshire Association for Mental Health

East Dunbartonshire Association for Mental Health (EDAMH) is a local voluntary sector organisation and charity which provides community based support services throughout East Dunbartonshire.

EDAMH promotes the rights and seek to enhance the lifestyle of those affected by mental ill health through the provision of easily accessible community based services.

People affected by mental ill health are supported to lead the life they want to live through one to one and group support, to pursue their recovery of improved mental health and wellbeing. This is achieved through developing recovery plans with the common aims of reducing isolation, restoring confidence, motivation, self esteem and building emotional resilience. We adopt a strengths and assets based approach to support individuals pursuing their recovery shaped by their hopes and needs. This commonly involves restoring a meaningful and purposeful structure to people’s daily lives, including improved emotional, social and vocational activity.

EDAMH also provides training and awareness raising with the aim of constructively challenging stigma and reducing discrimination and inequality experienced by people affected by mental ill health, including relatives, friends and colleagues.
